Decorating sisters Nancy and Lisa team up to make local weddings more beautiful with Creative Country Designs

Like many sisters, Nancy Sherman and Lisa Storoschuk are near opposites - and likewise, don't always agree. But if you ask them about it, they'll admit that this is part of what makes them so good at wedding décor. It's also part of what made them so fun to interview.

The Ring sat down with Nancy and Lisa at their La Salette location to find out more about their open-book pricing, easy-to-love personalities, and of course, their full-day, stress-free wedding decorating services. Let us explain...

In the beginning...

Creative Country Designs is owned by sisters, Nancy Sherman and Lisa Storoschuk. This young company opened its Windham Road doors in 2003 with the goal of catering to events in their local community. Beginning with birthday parties and school fairs, they found themselves working with many families and members from within their area. It wasn't long before requests started to come in for wedding décor. That's why, beginning last year, Creative Country Designs began building their inventory, speaking with other expert... click for more

If Men Were In Charge of Planning Weddings...

There would be less "Oh Promise Me" and "Endless Love", and more "Louie, Louie" and "Mony Mony".

There would be a 'Rehearsal Dinner Kegger Party'.

Bridesmaids would wear matching blue jean cut-offs and halter tops. They would have NO tan lines and more skin showing than not.

Tuxes would have team logos on the back and the Nike shoes would have matching team colors.

June Weddings would be scheduled around basketball play-offs.

Vows would mention cooking and sex specifically but omit that "forsaking all others" part.

The couple would leave the ceremony in a souped up '73 Charger or some other Mopar with racing tires and flame designs on the side of the car. Better yet, a Harley!

Idiots that tried to dance with the Bride (unless they were really old) would get punched in the head.

Big slobbery dogs would be eligible for the role of Best Man.

There would be 'Tailgate Receptions'.

Outdoor weddings would be held during sporting events at half-time or between innings.

Ceremonies would be short and Honeymoons would be long.

Ceremonies and Honeymoons would be inexpensive compared to the cost of the Bachelor Party. Those strippers and liquor sure do add up.

Men wouldn't ask...."Well, what do you think, Dear, The Burgundy or the Wine colored napkins?" They'd just grab extras from their local pub or tavern.

Favours would be matchbooks and cigars. Better yet, free drink passes at the local lounge.

The bride's dress would show cleavage, her navel, and be form fitted to her butt.

Instead of a sit down dinner or a buffet, there would be a hog roast or buckets of chicken, pizza and plenty of barbeque.

No one would bother with that 'Veil Routine'. But they would insist the garter be as high up on her leg as it would go.

The bridal bouquet could be recycled from a previous funeral or something.

"... When we parked I happen to see a sign that said "hot air balloon rides", and said it out loud. Chris then told me that he had a confession to make, that we weren't actually having dinner, that we were going on a balloon ride. Chris had packed a picnic supper for us to eat while we waited for the guys to come with the balloon. Except...it started to spit, and it was windy. Even though the guys had thought we would be able to go up in the afternoon, when they got there they said it wasn't safe to fly. So, as you might be thinking, I was totally expecting that Chris had planned to propose, but then nothing happened. We were told that we would have to go on a waiting list for the next available flight:( As you might imagine I was trying to figure out if Chris was actually planning to propose, or if he was telling the truth that he had planned to go up to celebrate me finishing my first year of my masters, and his birthday. So we waited....and waited. Finally at the beginning of this week I was told that we were booked to go up on Friday. All week I checked the weather network website to make sure that the weather would cooperate this time...and it did. Last night we grabbed something to eat after I got home from work, and then we were off to Erin for the second time. This time...we got to go up! As you can see in the picture I got to help while we inflated the balloon with cool air. Then Chris and I laid down on the ground and shimmied ourselves into the basket so that we were laying parallel to the ground. Our pilot, Moses, then blasted hot air into the balloon and it lifted off the ground. Quickly we were soaring up into the air. All this time I was looking to see if there were any bulges in Chris' pockets that might hint at a ring box. There was nothing. So, we were in the air for about 15 minutes when Chris told me that he had written a poem. At the end it said "So with all this in mind, and the world still to see, I'm going to get just a little bit lower now, and ask if you'll marry me." Chris got down on one knee and pulled the ring box out of a pocket in his coat. All of this was captured by the pilot who had no idea Chris was proposing but thought it was cool that he was reading me a poem. After I had..." click for the full story
